The composition structure of DIY cup stickers
Pattern layer
It can be a hand drawn illustration, photo, text or digital design draft, and is the visual core of stickers;
Design with commonly used software such as Maker Post and Photoshop, supporting transparent background PNG format to achieve natural edge fusion.
Back adhesive layer
Located on the back of the pattern, using removable or permanent adhesive to ensure that the sticker can firmly adhere to the cup surface and is not easily residual;
High quality stickers use UV resistant adhesive, which is fade resistant, waterproof and oil resistant, suitable for daily cleaning.
Protective film layer (release paper)
A layer of paper or plastic film covering the sticker before use to prevent the adhesive from sticking dust in advance;
When pasting, it needs to be peeled off. Some products adopt a segmented release design for easy alignment of complex patterns.
How to use DIY cup stickers
Step 1: Design and Print
Using design tools on a computer or mobile phone to create patterns, the recommended size is 8.5cm x 20cm (suitable for standard mug bodies);
Export as a 300dpi high-definition PNG or PDF file, select a printer that supports color printing to output to transfer sticker paper.
Step 2: Cutting and Preparation
Accurately cut along the edges of the pattern, leaving a 5mm safety margin to avoid pattern loss caused by cutting after printing;
Clean the cup surface and wipe off oil with alcohol to ensure there are no water stains or dust.
Step 3: Paste Techniques
Tear off the protective film, slowly apply it from one side of the cup body, and use nails or a soft scraper to remove bubbles while sticking;
If using the oil transfer printing method, you can first cut the pattern and soak it in water. After the paper base separates, slide it onto the cup surface and then press it to dry.
Step 4: Post reinforcement (optional)
For frequently used cups, it is recommended to spray a layer of transparent waterproof varnish on the surface of the sticker or use heat shrink film encapsulation to enhance durability;
Avoid using steel wire balls for scrubbing, hand washing is preferred to extend the lifespan of stickers.
If you want to achieve a "color changing" effect, you can choose a temperature sensitive sticker material, and the pattern will automatically appear after pouring hot water, adding fun.
